Animals, by the instinct of self-preservation, will either fight or run in reaction to fear, except for possums who freeze up and play dead. Heaven is about experiencing the joy, peace and love that comes from service. Hell is about experiencing the arid, painful dryness that comes from selfishness. Some will argue that there is no hell. Perhaps, but there is a not-heaven.

The greedy do not dream, they only wish.

The tragedy is this: not so much that Adam ate the food, but that he ate the food for its own sake, apart from God, to be independent of God. Believing that food had life in itself and thus make him to be “like God.” He put his faith in food.

The reason why so few receive inward light and freedom is that they cannot wholly renounce self and follow Christ.

of a bigger problem: selfishness. Contemplate what it would be like: if we welcomed every baby as the miracle it is. if we provided loving support for teens that get pregnant, instead of shunning them. if we respected life as we should we would love as we are capable.
